PLA 3D printing
PLA is the easiest and cheapest plastic to print: rigid, accurate and with a good finish. It is ideal for prototypes, models, large figures and indoor decorative parts. It is not suitable for heat (it softens at about 55 °C) or long outdoor use.
What it is good for
- Prototypes and models
- Decorative parts
- Indoor brackets
- Large figures
When not to use it
- Inside a car in summer
- Parts in direct sun
- Parts that take knocks
PLA vs PETG: PETG handles more heat and impact; PLA is cheaper and has a better finish. See PETG →
