FDM 3D printing in Asturias
FDM printing lays down a thread of molten plastic layer by layer. It is the most affordable option for functional parts, spare parts, brackets and medium-sized prototypes: strong, fast and available in PLA, PETG, ABS/ASA and TPU. A small part costs from €6 and is ready in 24–72 h.

When to choose FDM
- Functional parts and spare parts
- Brackets, enclosures, jigs
- Medium-sized prototypes
- Small batches of 10 to 500 parts
When not to
- Very fine detail (figures, jewellery): resin is better
- A perfectly smooth surface with no visible layers
Materials for FDM
PLA
PLA is the easiest and cheapest plastic to print: rigid, accurate and with a good finish.
PETG
PETG is our recommended material for functional parts and spare parts: more resistant to impact and heat than PLA (≈ 75 °C), slightly flexible and fine for humidity and moderate outdoor use..
ABS / ASA
ABS and ASA are engineering plastics for parts that face heat (≈ 95 °C) and demanding use.
TPU
TPU is a flexible, rubber-like material (hardness ≈ 95A).
Questions about FDM
How strong is an FDM part?
It depends on the material and infill. In PETG or ASA with 30–60 % infill, a part handles everyday mechanical use; for high loads we recommend more walls and the right print orientation. We advise you free of charge.
Are the layers visible?
Yes, slightly: at 0.2 mm layers you can feel them. If you need a smooth surface, choose resin or ask for sanding.
